Tamas, tamo-guṇa—ignorance, one of the three guṇas or modes of
material nature. See Guṇa.
Tapasya—religious austerity.
Tilaka—an auspicious clay-marking on the forehead of a person that
signifies his adherence to a particular sampradāya.
Tithi—a lunar day.
Tīrtha—a holy place.
Tīrtha-yātrā—pilgrimage.
Tri-kāla—the three phases of time: past, present and future.
Tulasī—a pious plant worshipped by devotees of Lord Viṣṇu.
Tulasī Dāsa—a poet who retold the Rāmāyaṇa for Hindi-speaking
devotees.

Uddhava—Lord Kṛṣṇa’s cousin, minister, and great devotee.
Upaniṣads—auxiliary Vedic texts that are philosophical treatises.
Uttar Pradesh—a state in present North India.

Vaikuṇṭha—the spiritual abode of Lord Viṣṇu.
