vocal and instrumental. He would increase the happiness
of those who heard him speak. Prabodhānanda’s glories
are immense.”
When Śrīmān Mahāprabhu returned to Nīlācala, in
the subsequent years Prabodhānanda Sarasvatī became
absorbed in intensely and wholeheartedly worshipping
Him. Giving up Śrīraṅgam, He first took shelter of Lord
Caitanya, and keeping in mind his desired mode of
worship, without delay he went to live in Kāmyavana
in the Mathurā district. Meanwhile, Gopāla Bhaṭṭa also
gradually developed an intense desire to live in Vraja-
dhāma and later followed in his uncle’s footsteps.
Many people have a doubt regarding the reason for which
Śrīla Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja did not describe the glories of
Śrīla Prabodhānanda Sarasvatī, although he was so dear
to Lord Caitanya and although such topics give joy to his
readers, the devotees of Lord Gaurāṅga. In reply to this,
the statements penned in the Bhakti-ratnākara (209-211,
216, 222-224) are enough. There, Narahari Cakravartī says:
śrī-gopāla-bhaṭṭera e-saba vivaraṇa
keha kichu varṇe, keha nā kare varṇana
nā bujhiyā marma ithe kutarka ye kare
aparādha-bīja tāra hṛdaye sañcāre
parama-rasika pūrva pūrva kavi-gaṇa
varṇite samartha haiyā nā kare varṇana
rākhilena madhye madhye varṇana karite
varṇibe ye kavi-gaṇa tāṁhāra nimitte
