           Krathanaka—a trusting camel lost in the jungle.
                  Story Eleven: The Ṭiṭṭibha Birds and the Ocean
           Dṛḍhavrata*  [one of great resolve]—a male ṭiṭṭibha bird.
           Dharmapatnī* [a faithful wife]—a female ṭiṭṭibha bird.
           Varṣāpremī* [one who loves the rain]—peacock.

                  Story Twelve: The Turtle that Fell off the Stick
           Kambugrīva [one whose neck is like a conch]—a talkative turtle.
           Saṅkaṭa [danger]—one of the two swans.
           Vikaṭa [ugly-faced]—another swan.

                      Story Thirteen: The Three Little Fishes
           Foresight* [Anāgatavidhātā: one who predicts the future]—the first
           fish.
           Intelligence* [Pratyutpannamati:  smart  in dealing  with  the
           present]—the second fish.
           Resignation* [Yadbhaviṣya: “whatever happens”]—the third fish.

                  Story Fourteen: The Elephant and the Sparrow
           Vīṇāravā [one who buzzes like a vīṇā]—a fly.
           Meghanāda [one who croaks like a thundercloud]—a frog.

           Vajradaṁṣṭra [whose fangs are as hard as diamond]—a lion.
           Caturaka [smart]—a jackal.
           Kravyamukha [whose mouth is filled with flesh]—a wolf.
           Śaṅkukarṇa [whose ears are like wedges]—a camel.
