Tithi—a lunar day.
Ṭiṭṭibha—a species of bird (Parra jacana).
Tīrtha—a holy place, a place of pilgrimage.
Ugra-karma—forbidden or sinful activities.
Utsava—a religious festival.
Vāhana—a celestial carrier of any of the divine personalities,
such as Garuḍa, Lord Viṣṇu’s eagle carrier, or Nandī, Lord
Śiva’s bull carrier.
Vaidya—a traditional Ayurvedic doctor.
Vaikuṇṭha—the spiritual abode of Lord Viṣṇu.
Vaiṣṇava—a devotee of Lord Viṣṇu.
Vaiśya—a farmer or merchant, a member of the third
occupational division in the Vedic society.
Vajra-astra—thunderbolt, King Indra’s weapon.
Varāha(deva), Lord—an incarnation of Lord Viṣṇu in the
form of a gigantic boar.
Vardhamāna—an ancient city in Eastern India, present-day
Burdwan in West Bengal.
Varṇa—any of the four occupational divisions of the Vedic
society.
Varṇāśrama—the Vedic social system of four occupational
divisions (varṇas) and four spiritual orders or stages of social
involvement (āśramas).
Vāyu—the god of wind.
Vedas—the four original sacred scriptures of the Vedic canon:
the Ṛg Veda, Sāma Veda, Atharva Veda and Yajur Veda.
Vedānta—(lit. “the end of the Vedas”), one of the six
philosophical doctrines or darśanas which discusses the
metaphysical reality of spirit in terse aphorisms or sūtras.
