Prāyaścitta—penance to obtain release from a sinful deed.
Pṛthu, King—an ancient Vedic king who was an incarnation
of Lord Viṣṇu.
Purāṇas—ancient histories that are enriched with narrations
of the pastimes of Lord Viṣṇu’s many incarnations and of the
lives of His devotees.
Pūrva-janma-karma—results of actions performed in one’s
previous lives.
Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa—the transcendental couple, Lord Kṛṣṇa and
His eternal consort Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī.
Rāja-nīti—the science of polity, statecraft.
Rāma, Rāmacandra, Lord—a prominent incarnation of
Lord Viṣṇu who appeared in Tretā-yuga as the son of King
Daśaratha of Kośala.
Rāmānuja (Rāmānujācārya)—a stalwart Vaiṣṇava preacher
in South India during the tenth and eleventh centuries AD
who firmly established one of the four principal Vaiṣṇava
sampradāyas.
Rāmāyaṇa—an ancient Sanskrit epic similar to the
Mahābhārata, recounting the history of the solar dynasty of
kings, particularly Lord Rāmacandra.
Rāśi—sign of the zodiac.
Rāvaṇa—the ancient king of the Rākṣasas who was killed by
Lord Rāma.
Ṛṣi—a sage.
Ṛṣyamūka Hills—scenic hills near Hampi in Karnataka, the
birthplace of Hanumān and the place of his first meeting with
Lord Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
Sādhu—a saint.
