Kapila(deva), Lord—an incarnation of Lord Kṛṣṇa who
appeared as the son of sage Kardama and Devahūti. He
instructed his mother extensively on the principles of spiritual
life (recounted in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Canto Three).
Karma—(1) action in accordance with the injunctions of the
Vedas, (2) destiny or the results of past actions.
Karmī—one who is engrossed in material activities.
Karṇa—one of the celebrated kṣatriya warriors of the epic
Mahābhārata, the son of Sūrya (the sun god) and Queen Kuntī.
He was forced to side with Duryodhana against his own half
brothers, the Pāṇḍavas.
Khadira—a tree with very hard wood (Acacia catechu).
Kirāta—a member of a forest tribe.
Kṣatriya—a member of the second occupational division
(varṇa) in Vedic society; a ruler, administrator or soldier.
Kṛpaṇa—a miser.
Kṛṣṇa, Lord—the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His
original, most attractive form.
Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī—the author of Śrī Caitanya-
caritāmṛta, the biography of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.
Kūrma, Lord—an incarnation of Lord Viṣṇu in the form of a
giant tortoise.
Kuśa—sacred grass used in all Vedic rituals and ceremonies
(Poa Cynosuroides or Desmostachia bipinnata).
Kuvera—the treasurer of the demigods.
Lākh—a Hindi word for Sanskrit lakṣa, equivalent to the
number 100.000.
Lakṣmaṇa—Lord Rāma’s younger brother.
Lakṣmī—the goddess of fortune, consort of Lord Viṣṇu.
