Loṭā—a metal bowl.
Madhva (Madhvācārya)—one of the great medieval Vaiṣṇava
ācāryas who were extremely influential in spreading and
reestablishing Vaiṣṇava culture across South India.
Māgha—one of the winter months according to the standard
Indian solar calendar, occurring in December-January.
Māgha-nakṣatra—one of the 27 stars or constellations.
Mahā-bhāgavata—an advanced and empowered devotee of
the Lord.
Mahābhārata—the longest epic in the literature of the world,
composed by sage Vyāsa. It chronicles the history of the
great dynasties of Bhārata-varṣa, especially the royal family
of the Kurus and their fight for succession on the throne of
Hastināpura.
Mahādeva—Lord Śiva.
Mahāprabhu—Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.
Mahārāja—title for a king, ruler or sannyāsī.
Mahātmā—a great soul.
Mahilāropyam—an ancient city in South India.
Mahout—an elephant keeper and trainer.
Mantra—(1) a pure sound vibration, (2) a Vedic incantation
that frees the mind from material attachments and illusion.
Mantra-siddhi—success or perfection in chanting a particular
mantra.
Maṭha—a monastery, a temple compound with residential
quarters for renunciants.
Matsya, Lord—the famous incarnation of Lord Viṣṇu in the
form of a giant fish.
Māyā—illusion (lit. “that which is not”).
