“This saintly scholar from India has astounded the world-wide
community of academicians by his ability to present the most
complex ideas of Vedic philosophy in such simple language
that even lay-persons can understand them.” (Reference:
Encyclopaedia Britannica, regarding Śrīla Prabhupada)
Regarding dormant prema see Cc. Madhya 22.107. The Bengali
is clear. I understand Bengali probably better than S.
Regarding contradictions: sastra itself is full of apparent
contradictions. For instance: “He has no legs but He walks.”
Srila Prabhupada writes (Bg. 6.8 purport): “By transcendental
knowledge one can remain steady in his convictions, but by
mere academic knowledge one can be easily deluded and
confused by apparent contradictions.”
That S does not understand Srila Prabhupada’s exposition of
sastra again points to his paucity as a scholar. As one great
scholar in India said, “One who has a little learning in Sanskrit
will find faults in Srila Prabhupada’s translations. But a very
deep scholar will be amazed at how Srila Prabhupada has
brilliantly expressed the essential conclusion of the sastras.”
As Krsna cannot be understood by scholarship alone, nor can
His devotees. It is highly impertinent and envious for such
a minor person as S to attempt to judge and find faults in a
recognized world acarya who is clearly favored by Krsna, who
has given Krsna-bhakti to the world, and whose books are
universally accepted as authoritative.
It would be better if my disciples did not read books or hear
from various sources without my permission. Traditionally a
disciple does not study any knowledge or hear from anyone
without taking permission from the guru. There is much
misleading propaganda circulating even within ISKCON which
simply bewilders the mind.
