Dust—Gauòéyas highly regard particles of earth taken from holy
places or from the lotus feet of elevated devotees. The placing of
such dust upon one’s head and/or tongue demonstrates submission
and humility and is recommended in scripture as being important
for spiritual progress.
Ekädaçé—the eleventh day of both the waxing and waning moon,
a highly favorable day for cultivating Kåñëa-bhakti, during which
Vaiñëavas fast and increase their spiritual practices.
Gaëeça—the elephant-headed demigod.
Gaìgä—Ganges River.
Gauòéya—(1) of or pertaining to Gauòa, an erstwhile city of
Bengal; (2) pertaining to the Vaiñëava sampradäya derived from
Lord Caitanya; (3) a Gauòéya Vaiñëava.
Gétä—the Bhagavad-gétä.
Géta-govinda—a highly esoteric and transcendentally erotic poem
composed by Çré Jayadeva Gosvämé (c. eleventh century CE) that
describes intimate pastimes of Rädhä-Kåñëa. Its verses and themes
were repeatedly heard, sung, and meditated on by Çré Caitanya
Mahäprabhu, and inspired the composition of innumerable
Gauòéya Vaiñëava kértanas.
Godbrother—a fellow disciple of the same spiritual master.
Gokula—(1) the Våndävana manifested within the material world
as a facsimile of Goloka; (2) in Vraja-maëòala, the particular
village that was the site of Kåñëa’s residence during much of His
childhood.
Goloka, Goloka Våndävana—the topmost section of the spiritual
world.
