6 PATROPADEŚA
regarding the spiritual master accepting the disciple’s sinful
reactions, and thus diminishing his own results of pious acts.
This has to be read in context. It refers to a priest or a spiritual
master on the karma-kanda platform, and who is therefore
still involved with pious and sinful acts and their reactions.
A spiritual master in Krsna consciousness no longer cares for
karmic actions and their results as he has surrendered his
life to Krsna and depends upon Him. And Krsna absolves a
surrendered devotee from sinful reactions (c.f. Gita 18.66).
I suppose this passage was quoted in “Spiritual Master and
Disciple” to make the point that the guru accepts the sinful
reactions of the disciple. But without giving the context it
would be confusing. In the Catholic countries people often
ask others to pray for them, so I’ll ask you to pray for me for
the physical, mental and spiritual strength to discharge my
duties to Srila Prabhupada in a fitting manner.

I received your letter but not the previous one in which you
requested initiation. No harm to wait, but don’t put it off
forever.
Better to mix maha-prasadam water with orange squash
(or similar) than tea! The sentiment of trying to help your
parents one way or another is very good. Be patient with
them, write or phone them regularly, and let them feel you
care for them.
Next book: “Rasikananda.” Not written by me but I oversaw
the translation, editing and production and put much work
into it.
After that, probably the next will be “Glimpses of Traditional
Indian Life.”
