                                      Śrī-Caitanya-citrāṣṭakam

       gem;  atula-ratna-sādṛśa-bhavaḥ  –  producing  similar
       matchless jewels; kākāḥ – crows; khagendrāḥ – kings
       of birds; iva – like; śākhoṭaḥ – Trophis aspera (a small,
       crooked, ugly tree); taruḥ – tree; eva – indeed; candana-
       dharaḥ  –  holding  sandalwood;  raṇḍaḥ  –  a  barren  tree;
       ca – and; kalpa-drumaḥ – a desire-fulfilling tree; gauḍe –
       in  Gauḍadeśa;  gaura-sudhākare  –  moon-like  Gaurāṅga;
       samudite – having appeared; kiṁ kim – what; vicitram –
       wonderful; na – not; hi – indeed.

                             Translation
       As the moon-like Lord Gaurāṅga appeared in Gauḍadeśa,
       glass turns into gold; gold becomes the philosopher’s
       stone; Vaidūrya gems produce similar matchless jewels;
       crows become like Garuḍa; crooked, ugly trees become
       sandalwood trees; and barren trees become wish-fulfilling
       trees. Is this not wonderful?
