this beautiful gold-colored boy had exactly the
same features as Lord Çré Kåñëa and must indeed
be Kåñëa Himself, but with a different complexion.
Because the child was born under a neem tree, and
because most of Çacémätä’s other children had died
prematurely, apparently due to the influence of evil
spirits—against which the neem tree is reputed to

rain, and the earth again became happy and
prosperous, as if Lord Näräyaëa Himself were
protecting the earth. Therefore this baby should be
named Viçvambhara (maintainer of the worlds).
After all, it is written in His horoscope that He will
be a brilliant lamp shining in His family. ‘Nimäi’
          may remain a secondary name.”

             During the name-giving ceremony, brähmaëas
chanted auspicious mantras while local people
