aya a a a ceremony in which a princess
selects her own husband, after a contest of military
skill by prospective suitors.
a a ya austerity; voluntary acceptance of
difficulty to achieve either material or spiritual
advancement.
a a sacred clay markings placed on the forehead and
other parts of the body to distinguish one as a specific
follower of Viṣṇu, Rāma, or a demigod.
ā y a the second in the cycle of the four ages of the
universe or mahā-yuga. It lasts 1,296,000 years. In this age
Lord Rāmacandra appeared.
mā a name for the wife of Lord Śiva.
