manner, if devotees of the Kåñëa consciousness movement, due to
fear of rejection or fear of hurting the common people, hesitate
to honestly speak the sublime truths that Çréla Prabhupäda has
presented in his books, then we will be lumped in with those
movements that present compromised truth. On the other hand
the goal of strong speaking is not to drive away people. As the
sayings go, “winning the battle and losing the war” and “operation
successful, patient dead.” The goal of strong speaking is the same
as the goal of preaching to the heart. I find this book a great
treasure, especially in this era of new age movements popping
up which dilute the spiritual philosophy and drag it down to the
mundane plane.

Thank you for your service to Çréla Prabhupäda in the writing of
On Speaking Strongly in Çréla Prabhupäda’s Service. Prior to reading
the book, I had always wondered if I was too “conservative” in my
view of Kåñëa consciousness. Many people had told me to “lighten
up” even if I was directly quoting one of Çréla Prabhupäda’s letters
or conversations. This book has helped me better understand his
mood and how I can more effectively follow.
