Çréla—an honorific prefix to names of exalted devotees.
Çréla Bhaktisiddhänta sarasvaté—(1874–1936) a powerful äcärya
of Kåñëa consciousness, and the guru of Çréla A. C. Bhaktivedanta
Swami Prabhupäda.
Çréla Bhaktivinoda Öhäkura—(1838–1915) the inaugurator
of the modern-day bhakti movement and the father of Çréla
Bhaktisiddhänta Sarasvaté Öhäkura.
Çréla prabhupäda—(in this book, refers to) His Divine Grace A. C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupäda (1896–1977), the founder-
äcärya of iskcon and the most prominent preacher of Kåñëa
consciousness in the modern era.
Çrémad-Bhägavatam—an ancient extensive treatise that presents
confidential and definitive understanding of Lord Kåñëa, His
devotees, and pure devotional service to Him.
supreme personality of Godhead—Kåñëa (God), the supreme
creator, maintainer, and controller of all that be.
surrender—(in Vaiñëava parlance) full submission (of oneself as a
servant of guru and Bhagavän).
tapasya—austerity undertaken for spiritual advancement.
tapasvé—a person dedicated to tapasya.
tilaka—auspicious clay-markings on the upper part of the body,
principally the forehead, signifying one’s membership within a
sampradäya.
uttama-adhikäré—a topmost, fully perfect devotee; a paramahaàsa
(q.v.).
Vaiñëava—(1) a devotee of Viñëu (Kåñëa), especially a pure, fully
perfect devotee; (2) of or pertaining to devotees of Viñëu.
Vaiñëava-aparädha—offense to devotees.
Viñëu—the Supreme Lord, especially His majestic four-armed
