Although the articles are ascribed to myself, much of the work in compiling
them was done by others. My task consisted of getting to the venues,
collecting information on them from scripture, other books, and oral
sources, and dictating my experiences on a tape recorder. Both Jayädvaita
Swami and Nägaräja Däsa (who in 1999 succeeded him as editor of Back to
Godhead) expertly weaved these tangles of tidbits into delightful overviews.
Thus the article on Puñkara was more realistically introduced as “By
Nägaräja Däsa with reporting by Bhakti Vikäsa Swami.” Tattvavit Prabhu
put a great deal of work into the Dakor piece. So much of the information for
the Çré Raìgam article was provided by Jaya Vijaya Däsa that he was listed
as co-author. Supplementary writings by other contributors added flavor
and depth to many of the essays. And what really brought them to life was
the photos, expertly and often painstakingly snapped by Mahä-Viñëu Däsa
and others. Other contributing photographers: Bhärgava Däsa, Rämänuja
Däsa, Yamaräja Däsa, Dhruva Mahäräja Däsa, and Mädhavänanda Däsa.
For the first edition, Bharata Däsa did the layout and oversaw the printing,
Rasika Çekhara Däsa designed the cover, and Çré Giridhäré Däsa, Bhakta
Srinath, and Bhakta Sumeet did the proofreading. Thanks are due to them
and also to the many devotees who have contributed funds to assist my
book production.
Çré Giridhäré Däsa did the layout and oversaw the printing of this second
edition. Adbhuta Hari Däsa contributed photos for a new article about
Sukatal. Känu-priya Däsa, Kiçora Däsa, and Çré Giridhäré Däsa provided
some other additional photographs, and Çré Keçava Däsa improved the
quality of the existing photos. Indirä-sakhé Devé Däsé, Kiçora Däsa and
Ananta-sarovara Däsé, and Muräri Däsa did the proofreading. May Çréla
Prabhupäda bestow his blessings upon them.
