The Glories of Çyämänanda 19

south, east, or west, he went wherever his mind took him. He kept
enthusing his companions about visiting different sacred places,
and sometimes they would locate them only after a day or two of
searching. Next, Çyämänanda went to see the place of Lord Kapila
and from there moved on to Matsya-tértha, Çiva-käïcé, and Viñëu-
käïcé. He also visited Kurukñetra, Påthüdaka, Bindu-sarovara, and
Prabhäsa-kñetra. He happily roamed around, not caring whether
it was day or night. Whenever he heard about a holy place he
did not hesitate to visit it. He did not put much effort into the
regulated circumambulation and procedures at each holy place.
In full satisfaction, he simply roamed around according to his own
          preferences.

Çyämänanda Prabhu visited the Trita-küpäyana-tértha and saw the
deity Viçälä. He traveled to Brahma-tértha and Candra-tértha, as
well as to the Präcé Sarasvaté River. He also visited the Pratisrotä
on the western coast, where the Sarasvaté flows westward into the
sea. He then went to see Naimiñäraëya and the city of Ayodhyä. He
visited the territories of the caëòäla Guhaka, and the Sarayü and
Kauçiké rivers. Then he went to see the ashram of Pulastya Åñi, and
the Gomaté and Gaëòaké rivers. He took bath in the sixteen holy
places on Mahendra Hill and then quickly went to see the source
of the Gaìgä near Haridvära. He took darçana of Lord Näräyaëa
in Badarikäçrama and then visited the hermitage of Vyäsadeva. He
constantly chanted the Lord’s holy name and shed pools of tears.
Traveling continuously, he visited the river Pampä, known as the
southern Gaìgä, as well as the Bhägérathé Gaìgä in the north. He
saw the Sapta-godävaré-kuëòa, Dhenu-tértha on the Çré Çaila, and
the cities of South India. He went to the Veìkaöädrinätha temple
(near Tirupati), to Kämakoñöhé Puré (Käïcé), and to Madurai, the
southern Mathurä. He visited the Kåtamälä, Tämraparëé, and
Yamunä rivers. Continuing his pilgrimage, he came to the place on
the Malaya Mountain where Agastya Muni used to offer oblations.
