are an auspicious source of energy to man, being naturally

motherly and affectionate, shy, and chaste, and ensuring
that their children are healthy and bright. Consequently, the
men actually become inspired to assume responsibility for
protecting and providing. All happily cooperating together,
they live on the lap of nature, depending on Kṛṣṇa’s bounty.
Mothers and Masters is the first publication to present a multi-
faceted case for the traditional approach to Kṛṣṇa consciousness,
whereby everyone can be happy in the Vedic way as described
by Śrīla Prabhupāda. I humbly request all followers of Śrīla
Prabhupāda, especially those who have objected to this book,
to patiently and carefully consider the points outlined herein,
and to excuse any excesses or inaccuracies that they might
perceive, so that all of us might come to a better understanding
of these matters and thus conjointly strive to fulfill the great
varṇāśrama mission mandated by Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Preface to the Second Edition
The f irst edition of this book was released just a few weeks ago.
However, several important points were not included therein,
due to time constraints in the rush to make it available for the
GBC* meetings in Māyāpur in early 2015.
Shortly after the f irst edition went on sale in Māyāpur, the
Executive Committee (EC) of the GBC ordered the conf iscation
of the banners and posters used to promote it. (The banners
and posters consisted of quotes from the text of the book along
with photos of the front cover.) Soon thereafter, I received an
